DEVIL DAWGS' LOSS PROMPTS COACH TO SUIT UP. Central Alabama Devil Dawgs' Jesse Reed doesnt like to lose, to put it mildly. So when his minor league football squad suffered the first loss of its brief history at the hands of the Rocket City Titans, Reed had a response: Suit up. " I will not have another game where my line is short handed, plus Im gonna bring some intensity that I think is a little lacking," Reed said after the game. The Dawgs (3-1) were without their starting and backup centers and an offensive guard due to job conflicts and a family emergency. Reed was the starting center for the Alabama Warriors, where he was a PSFL All-Star, and the Birmingham Wildfire, before splitting off with the Warriors to form his own team. The Titans (4-0) first scored on a 57-yard touchdown run by running back Danny Moon, who had 123 rushing for the game. In the second half, Rocket City blocked a Micheal Davis punt out of the end zone for a safety. After a long runback of the subsequent free kick, the Titans scored again on a run by Felix Allen. The Dawgs were held to just 16 yards rushing. Justin Craig was 5 of 13 passing with one interception. Chris Coach had 3 receptions for 76 yards. Linebacker Courtney Dailey led the defense with nine tackles. |
