Opportunity Knocks!

The Pensacola Wolfpac Head Coach Paul Smith was contacted a few weeks ago from a scouting bureau he has been working with this past year for his players.  As it turned out, his hard work to get his players noticed have finally paid off. “I have tried for the past four years to get my players noticed in front of someone. This past year we had at least one scout at five of our games. I have begged and even paid for them to come and watch my guys play. I knew if they would give them a look they would like what they saw.” said Coach Smith. Coach Smith has spent countless hours calling and writing emails to anyone who would listen trying to pry them from their busy Saturday’s to travel to Pensacola and watch the Wolfpac play. His work and dedication has paid off. The bureau told Mr. Smith they would like to come down to Pensacola and work out 12 of his players during a private session on March 20, 2010. “All I ever wanted was a chance for them. It takes a little luck and hard work to get a shot and they have finally got it” he says. The bureau will be working with the Wolfpac this upcoming year again. The two sides have already worked out the details for them to be at many of the Wolfpac games this year. Mr. Smith is very proud of his players and his team. He will again this year bring scouts and talent evaluators to his games to give his players a chance to show them what they have. Two years ago five Wolfpac players were invited to participate in a work out at the New Orleans Saints training facility. Mr. Smith drove all his player there to make sure they got there and was given there opportunity. “I will not give up on a dream I may be able to provide a player” Smith says. The Pensacola Wolfpac was started four years ago from scratch. The first day was on an early Saturday morning at a local YMCA field. Only 16 players showed up that day but coach did not lose hope. The weeks leading up to there first game, many other players caught wind of an amateur football team playing in their back yard and came out. Some never even played football before and some were seasoned from High School and or College. The first game finally came and went with the Wolfpac winning 30 to 6 to start a long winning tradition.
